Stuart Steck
Title:
Assistant Professor
Department:
Art History and Critical Studies
Biography:
"Being an artist is not a spectator sport. Images and objects play a profound role in shaping our sense of cultural identity."
Students in Dr. Steck's class are constantly challenged to ". . . become culturally active, intellectually curious, and critically engaged." Doing that means confronting the world head-on. Students must understand "... the evolving role of the visual arts, and what it means to be an image-maker in the 21st century."
Not satisfied with just fostering student growth in the classroom, Stuart Steck also involves himself with students outside of the class. As the advisor of the Art History Association, the director of the AIB Film Series, and the producer of the Short Attention Span Digital Film Festival, Dr. Steck is a big reason why, "AIB is a place that is full of opportunities."
